I hate to quibble here, but wouldn't adding a RIP into the stream
make this a different device?
When printing and profiling and measuring gamuts don't we have to
take into consideration the entire print path? Adding in something
like a RIP would make a pretty major change in the print path, so
much so as to beg the question: Is it still the same "device"?
And in the end wouldn't it be likely you'd get different results from
different RIPs anyway?

Hallo Oliver,
this statemant is correct, as long as you are talking about the same
device.
