Doesn't matter, the products are not necessarily equal in terms of just the
display, let alone the 'other stuff'.
A hood is nice to have from the manufacturer, but black foam core does the
job too.
The software is key here. At least with the SpectraView II software (which
it is somewhat a shame that the Europeans don't have the same options).
The puck? Well SpecraView II supports quite a few but if you don't have one,
they will supply one with the package. What is still questionable are which
have specially mated filters and which are OEM's from X-Rite (I know for a
fact the LED has special filters).

They give you the option each way. You can get JUST the display, you can get
the Display with the software and a colorimeter or both. Seems ideal to me.
I own several Colorimeters and Spectrophotometer's. I don't think I should
be forced to buy another.

You can buy just the software or the software and an EyeOne Display-2. And
as I said, their software with the Colorimeter for $249 is a sweet deal.
