The MultiSync LCD2690WUXi (NON-SpectraView) is much cheaper and does EUR

I've read you can easily turn the MultiSync LCD2690WUXi into a SpectraView.
For the price difference of approximately EUR 780, one must be able to buy
a colorimeter + hood + software.

As Andrew already pointed out, there is of course the issue of panels
used, as the best ones are reserved for the SpectraViews.

Strangely the NEC Australia press release doesn't hint at such a thing. It merely says that "SpectraView models also will be available in February 2007. The units will include a colorimeter and SpectraView II color calibration software.", implying that the colorimeter and software are the only difference.

See the press release:

<http://www.nec.com.au/necinthenews/2007/necextendsawardwinningultisync.htm>

The SpectraView brochure also make no mention of there being some
separate category of "SpectraView" monitors, although it implies
that only some of their range of monitors is suitable for
SpectraView: "Professional-level LCD monitors. When combined with the
SpectraViewII Color Calibration Solution, select 19" and 21" NEC LCDs
deliver the utmost in desktop color performance.", and then
goes on to list the LCD2180WG-LED, LCD1980SXi and LCD2180UX as
optional available with the SpectraView II calibration kit.

See: <http://www.nec.com.au/docs/brochure.pdf>

The LCD2690WUXi is listed under the "Professional (Colour Critical)"
category. See <http://www.nec.com.au/A47608D768F54CB3AE6779383B23028A.htm>.

Can you point to any official statement from NEC that there are
in fact "SpectraView" versions of their LCD2690WUXi monitors,
and that they are not just LCD2690WUXi's bundled with software,
a hood and a colorimeter ?

Graeme Gill.
