Thanks for the references, but as far as I can tell, there is nothing
at all in the NEC documentation to indicate that the displays themselves
are different between these models, only that the SpectraView versions
come with software and a hood. They otherwise seem to match, feature for
feature. The list of "certificates" is identical.
You'll notice that the MultiSync® LCD2690WUXi has the same
"ColorComp" feature as the SpectraView model:
"For even more advantages in this highly professional segment, the
renowned ColorComp function is now featured on the SpectraView® 2690.
In different steps, it automatically guarantees uniformity of colour,
brightness and gamma distribution over the whole area of the display.
To achieve this, every single panel is individually subjected to
highly precise measurements during manufacture, and optimized directly
in the hardware of the unit. The operating time of the unit, the
temperature and the alignment of the display (horizontal or vertical)
are taken into account for active optimisation."
The only additional thing is the "SpectraView® Certifier document"
mentioned in the shipping contents, but not the list of certificates.
There's no explanation in the specifications as to what that is, although
a press release mentions "certification document with the proven and
tested performance characteristics recorded for each individual unit
during final inspection".
So it is looking rather like the idea that the SpectraView monitors
are "selected" from batches of LCD2690WUXi's, is wishful thinking.
(Either that, or they aren't telling anyone about it, which would
seem counter productive given the price differences.)
