Right, so the story about having different firmware is complete rubbish, but something that seems to be intended to add mystique to the SpectraView model qualification. (sounds like deceptive advertising to me!)

Another possibility is that they are using the word "Firmware"
when they mean "set the internal 12 bit lookup tables",
i.e., what the SpectraView software does for any 2690.
