Just wondered if anyone has tried out the new Spyder 3 yet. Same ole'
stuff repackaged or new improved hardware?
Anyone?

If this is the case, and I already own a eye one pro, is there any

Is it just me - or does anybody else think that the Eye One Pro is a
disaster for monitor calibration?
Every time I've used an Eye One Pro to calibrate a monitor it produces
a crap result. I've used a number of them - and seen the results of
other people's use of them too.
Whenever I see a *calibrated* monitor which can't keep neutral in
shadows (or show much shadow detail at all) it has normally been
profiled using an Eye One Pro.
Cheaper devices do a much better job - DTP94 is (was) my particular
favourite.
It might be that the three Eye One Pros that I have the pleasure of
using for other things have all been somehow faulty when it comes to
making monitor profiles? But I've got a sneaky suspicion that their
responses to monitor stimulation isn't as good (and certainly not as
uniform) as some people assume?
PS. Who cares if a monitor matches 96% of AdobeRGB anyhow? What kind
of "standard" is AdobeRGB - the *standard* for lazy Photoshop users
who don't know any better? That figure is as useful as the scanner
manufacturers DMAX values...
PPS. The Eye One Pros were tested against the DTP94 on our monitors of
choice: Quato - they're a bit like Eizos would be if Eizo gave any
thought at all to product design... ;)
