Hello folks
There must be three of four mentions of using Preview with matching profiles
assigned to the image in Preview and in the print output but at the same
time most say they haven't done it themselves. I'm waiting on a mate of
mine to actually give this a go, as he is in the business like most of the
rest of you. But in the interim, can anyone actually confirm having done
this successfully with Preview under Snow Leopard? I'd do it myself, but at
standard commercial rates for scanning of targets I'd rather some of you
professional chaps, with your economies of scale ;-), did it for me! If I
had one decent Testimonial I might just bite the bullet and get printing and
spending my dosh.
I'm not sure I understand the lack of ability to print untagged targets in
many prosumer targeted image processing software packages. Just about
everyone I know doing hobbyist-level DSLR photography wants a properly
colour managed workflow (at least within consumer affordable limits of
quality). Anyone who spends 5 minutes Googling to try and figure out why
their printed photos don't look like the wonderful images they have on
screen is likely to realise the need for proper screen and print profiling.
Given the penetration of such information into the marketplace (and I went
the same route myself) I think the need to print untagged targets is
actually quite high in the non-professional sector of the imaging community.
It's a purely anecdotal observation on my part but thought I would share it
nonetheless.
Cheers
James
