I agree that missing gesture support is not a bug but a missing
feature. But the very purpose of a GUI is to support parameter editing
of the audio unit. And audio units are meant to work with multible
instances. This is not a feature but a very basic requirement. So if
the template does not work if you open multiple instances and does not
document this problem then I'd rather call that a bug. Especially
since there would be no extra code required to make it work, only
making the variable an instance variable. The decision to leave out a
feature would likely be made to keep the code simply. That does not
apply here. So, what is your argument for this to be a "missing
feature"? Maybe I'm not seeing the point.

I's not a bug in the template, it is simply a missing feature. Same
goes for the gesture start and stop messages that are not implemented
in the template, either, but are required for the automation to work
in Logic.
