To correct this:
OpenAL does some of this
You have a rate control with a given OpenAL source - this adjusts the playback rate AND pitch, of the source (this is commonly called varispeeding and is the alPitch control) - this is typically used to implement a doppler type affect
On iPhone, there is currently no ability to independently adjust both rate and pitch (so for example play faster, but keep the same pitch, or play lower but keep the same rate)
We have those capabilites on the desktop through 2 audio units AUVarispeed (adjusts rate and pitch), AUPitch (adjusts pitch, but rate is constant) and AUTimePitch (independent control of rate and pitch)

Ho do you define the difference between these three?
The way I see it, playback rate change is the same as speed/tempo and
pitch change, unless you are talking about doing something more
elaborate like time stretching and pitch shifting.

Hi all,
Newbie to Core Audio and might have to use it for an iPhone app we're
working on.
We need to do the following:
-adjust playback rate of a sound track
-adjust pitch of the sound track
-adjust tempo of the sound track
Can Core Audio be used to do these tasks??
Thanks!
