iPhone 3gs audio hardware capabilities list?

Questions:

1. from the look, my 3gs appears to have a pair of microphones. Can it actually do stereo recording with the right software? 2. is there a way to connect a stereo mic to the input jack, or does this need custom hardware using the computer interface? 3. What is the maximum bit depth and sample rate of the A/D and D/A converters, and what is the maximum software-allowed bit depth and sample rate? 4. Is there a mechanism to stream audio from a computer over the usb jack into the iphone and back again, so for instance:

Logic AU plugin streams audio to iphone
DSP app on iphone processes audio
iphone streams audio back to Logic?
