Authentication failure in Mac OSX -- darwin also?

  • Thread-topic: Authentication failure in Mac OSX -- darwin also?

There's been a long-running problem many people experience using Mac OSX and
OSXS, where after a period of time all system logins fail, though any users
logged in can work normally, and all processes that don't require login also
function normally (like apache, SMTP (non-authenticating), etc.).

Many reports point to lookupd instability as the culprit, though why some
people experience the problem and some don't is a mystery.

I've suffered with this going on 3 years now. I'm posting here to see if
this problem is OSX-specific or if any darwin-only users have experienced
it. If you've had the auth failure problem, or have seen lookupd flakiness,
please let me know, on-list or off.

TIA
