The uniqueness of ids was not the issue. It was having a database that would
list the drivers available for a given device, open source or commerical.


At the same time, pcidatabase.com is for PCI devices, not for USB devices.

That's "ioreg -l" in a terminal window. System Profiler also provides this information.
