I'm interested in porting 10.3.9 to work on the latest Apple
hardware. Initial attempts show thats its likely something in a
device driver, though which one is still beyond me. It hangs at
different places, and at different times after power on.
Any information (particular source files, packages even) would be of
incredible help.

This has already been done.

The current version is "Mac OS X Version 10.4.6", and it ships with new Macintosh systems.
