Anyone maintain a list of some of the useful OS X specific terminal
commands for admins.
Buried in the Fed-Talk emails is the command for getting a list of
installed applications "system_profiler SPApplicationsDataType" and I
played around with the software updater command, but I don't have a
list in hand, I was depending on my memory for these things.
I deal with just enough machines that I was thinking of ways to
automate the basic task of knowing which Apple updates need to be or
have been installed on all the machines. Possibly just having each
machine email me a list of applications and a list of installed
software updates once a week.
I have an order in to get Apple Remote Desktop 2, but I'm not sure how
that is going to work out with laptops and the order is delayed for
other reasons.
