The Admin Guide (on the web) is still ver. 1.0.1 for 10.3.6. I'm
happy the toolset came out but how different is it from the older
toolset (other than working with Leopard)? Will I be able to use
the old Admin Guide or will there be a new guide coming?
There is a new security guide for Leopard coming that includes
auditing information. I am not sure when it will come out, but I
suspect it will be on the order of weeks at most. From what I can
tell, there hasn't been a lot (if any) changes to auditing. At last
year's WWDC there was a side meeting for federal government related
issues, and Apple people mentioned that they are going for CC
certification for Leopard as they did with Panther (I think they
skipped certification for Tiger). This bodes well for more
documentation. (I wonder if the iPhone will be part of the
certification since it runs OS X? :)
Sun is way behind in their documentation too. I have searched their
web site thoroughly looking for certain audit record and token
information, but in several cases none was to be found. I ended up
printing the binary data and having to reverse engineer stuff the
best I could.
