Apple has stated they are no longer going to supply their own Java installation. If you want to know the progress on Apple's participation in the deployment of the next version of Java, sign up for email@hidden Many/Several people are actively coding, converting and testing the latest Java from Sun (oops, Oracle). Alexander Strange, Apple, appears to be the primary Apple person who constantly sends out porting updates.
As for Oracle's statement, someone with intimate knowledge of Apple's current installation of Java would have to review the threat to see if it affects Oracle's distribution only or Apple's adjusted deployment. They aren't the same and the threat is not necessarily the same.
