Let say. I have not found anyone that has happily deployed WO 5.2.2 on Panther. I also know of people who run into problems that have not posted on the list.

Except for demo deployment (few applications, no load) it does not appear to work.

That's scary.

Would you say that those with problems are all running OS X 10.3 Server? I have the impression that the reports I have seen all complain about Panther server. My develop and test deployments of WO 5.2.2 on OS X 10.3.2 "client" have not encountered any problems. I'm using JavaMonitor and wotaskd in the standard out-of-the-box + Software Update install with no problems at all, but then the application is not being pushed much by my solo testing. The load would be tiny.

If Panther 10.3 Server is severely broken for WO deployment and the Apple WO guys are frantically fixing it then I'm happy to wait for the next update. If one the other hand it's flaky and they don't know it then I'm worried. Unfortunately Apple's obsession with keeping secrets means we don't know which of these situations applies.

We are just about to move the client's server (ok, I know that sounds odd. in this case client = person, server = Mac) and we planned to clear up some lingering doubts about errors in the previous install by starting with an freshly initialised disk. I had hoped that this would be my chance to move the live deployment to Panther, but now I'm wavering.
