localhost and 127.0.0.1 should be the same thing.... eg

janine-sisks-imac-g5:~ janine$ host localhost
localhost has address 127.0.0.1

Do you get a different result?

Hmmm,, that is disabled on my window....

I downloaded CocoaMySql

If I try to connect to localhost, I can with one of the user accounts but not root.
If however I try to connect to 127.0.0.1 no go!

Very frustrating moment here.

Somehow, something was changed and now I cannot for the life of me have my app connect to the mysql database.

Total wild guess, but I had a similar problem a while back with a non-WO app.. My notes say to run /Applications/Server/MySQL Manager and make sure that Allow Network Connections is checked. Tiger comes with MySQL installed but for some reason it leaves that box unchecked, which makes it kinda useless for most things.

Of course you've obviously had this working before so this may be useless advice, but perhaps this is the "something that changed".

Good luck,

janine
