Hi!

How are you deploying 5.3.1 on non-mac systems? Are you sure you are REALLY using the 5.3.1 version of the framework? I ask this because there is no oficial "installer" of the 5.3.1 components on non-Mac systems...

Hello Stefan,

Yes, while the 5.3.0 developer key seems to work for 5.3.1
deployments, I doubt this is the official way to do it.
(Otherwise, why still include a deployment key which doesn't work ?)

Apple is looking into the issue:

http://lists.apple.com/archives/Webobjects-dev/2005/Nov//msg00353.html

You listed 4 options:

_________
- A payed deployment license key
- A free deployment license key based on a submitted license agreement
- A free universal deployment license key
- No deployment license key at all
________

I can confirm a license is still needed (eg. for building the WAR
file), so it's not option 4 (unless Apple will do away with the
deployment keys and confirm to use the development key.)

If it's option 1, I hope the license key will be available on stickers
inside the OS X Server box in the future. Otherwise it's practically
very hard for non OS X admins to retrieve the key (from an OS X Server
CD).

I guess it's option 3 after reading the new license. In this case,
something went wrong with the deployment key included in 5.3.1 on
non-Apple platforms (see my previous post for details).

Hope this didn't confuse you even more :-)

I guess Apple will post to this list once they looked into the issue.

Marc
