We have been using Cayenne with good success. It is pretty fast and easy to
deploy (cayenne.jar, cayenne.xml, your custom Java classes). The API is very
EOF like, it can even import an EOModel.
Cayenne recently got accepted as an Apache sandbox project. This should help
the long term viability a bunch.
