Hi Sam,

Even though we haven't touched WO 5.4 yet, it would be nice to be able to gain some of the functionality that WOLips has.

I've thought about a few different ideas like:
- trying to re-use as much of the WOLips code as possible and generalise the Eclipse specific code with interfaces that we can provide an IDEA implementation of
- possibly look at the ability to package all the non-java editing functions of WOLips into an IDEA plugin that synchonizes the Eclipse configuration with IDEA's
- re-implement much of the WOLips functionality slowly as the need arises (ie. start with project set up, WO "Project" toolbar, etc...)
- have a WOLips "standalone" Eclipse application that the IDEA plugin communicates with and delegates certain functions to (eg. component editing, api editor, etc...) ... sort of like an app launcher cross between ProjectBuilder/Xcode

I'm confident to say that IDEA provides all the functionality required to build a plugin that will allow us IDEA users to have something similar to WOLips for Eclipse.

Ideally, if all the Eclipse specific code in WOLips could be separated out of the "core" WOLips (if it isn't already) then it would provide the base for an IDEA plugin to build on.

After having said all that, i haven't looked at the WOLips source and haven't experimented with any IDEA plugin code. So this email is sort of like a "wish list".

Regards

Peter

I'm curious about the folks using IntelliJ. What are you using as a WOBuilder replacement for WO 5.4 development?

We wrote IntelliWO, a plugin to integrate IntelliJ with WOBuilder somewhat. Is there any demand for an upgrade to this?

Any recommendations or feedback are much appreciated.
