I've searched through all the WO Apple docs (spotlight on Leopard truly rocks!) to find a good explanation of the use of the caret "^" character in bindings in custom WOComponent .wod files and couldn't find any (except in a a couple of EO docs). It's mentioned in passing in the "WOComponent HTML File Format" reference but not in the "WOComponent Bundle Format" reference. In the HTML file format file they also mention prefixing key binding with a ? in the .wod file but I could not find a detailed explanation for this either.

The only place I could find documentation about the use of the "^" was in some of the WO books.

Did I really missed it or such a basic piece of information is actually missing from the docs?

Carat syntax is discussed at the bottom of the page <http://developer.apple.com/documentation/LegacyTechnologies/WebObjects/WebObjects_4.5/System/Documentation/Developer/WebObjects/DevGuide/ReusableComponents5.html >. I have found that some of the best conceptual WO documentation was written during the WO 4.5 timeframe when WO licenses were being sold for tens of thousands of dollars (maybe there's a correlation between license cost and documentation quality).

See <file:///Developer/Documentation/DocSets/com.apple.ADC_Reference_Library.WebObjectsReference.docset/Contents/Resources/Documents/documentation/WebObjects/Reference/DynamicElements/WOActionURL/chapter_2_section_3.html > or <http://developer.apple.com/documentation/WebObjects/Reference/DynamicElements/WOActionURL/chapter_2_section_3.html > for a description of the "?key" and "queryDictionary" bindings.

If you can't find the WO documentation that you need on your internal disk, search Apple Developer Connection's Reference Library as well. WO documentation is in the Internet & Web and Tools categories with past documentation preserved at < http://developer.apple.com/referencelibrary/LegacyTechnologies/ >.
