To add on, I would think that the support for MS Windows
development and deployment is deprecated.

That was already obsolete as of WO 5.3. No guessing there. But again, that is about officially supported environments - which became Mac OS X only. You are free to deploy elsewhere.
My doubt about deployment on Windows is the license string, since WO5.3 only
offers "unix" base license string. I have not tried with WO5.3 unix base
license string, but in "usual and 99% of cases", it will not work. If
someone have tried, kindly drop a message.

I know people who are developing on Windows on 5.3. You just have
to do something based on the FreeBSD and Linux installations
description (on the WikiBook), replacing the libs, etc, and it works.
With Eclipse and WOLips, of course. You are no different then on the
Mac, because "our" tools are deprecated and will eventually stop
working. So we are all in the same boat. The only diference is that
you don't have a nice little installer, you have to do it by hand.
Besides that, it works.

I wonder how to develop/deploy on Windows/WO5.3 when WebObjects.exe is not more in distribution after WO5.2.4. Unless we could reuse the WO5.2.4 WebObjects.exe/dll. In such case, we will never know that the future release of WO5.4..WO6 etc may not be compatible...

I did made WOLips and Eclipse working on Windows...it is great that we have
the replacement of development tools. But it certainly will not help to
resolve issue like I mentioned, license string and exe/dll. Learning a new
development tool is just a matter of time and a matter of choice. However,
if we could not have the license string and WebObjects.exe/dll, migrating to
WO5.3 is an issue for minority developers.
