pretty sure anjo did this somewhere .... maybe for the sql stats tracking stuff? i'm 99% sure this code exists in wonder.

Not that I know of. You could make a plugin subclass to return "false" for the "use bindings" method (whatever it is called, too lazy to look for it). Or maybe your plugin can be configured for this? Which database?
