A crash log should be available under ~/Library/Logs/CrashCatcher. Were
you by any chance running in Thousands of color mode? If so, there is a
known issue with X11 window manager crashes in this mode.

Make sure quartz-wm is still running. It's possible that it crashed.
From
waht I've seen, X11.app still keeps everything going even if its
controlling process (usually the window manager) disappears.
