I just hacked X11.app so that it loaded a full login/shell environment
and then loaded X11 within that. It still makes everything children of
init. it doesn't matter where you start it, X11 will always launch apps
as children of init. this is a bug/undocumented feature of apple's
implimentation. i recommend that anyone who cares, instead of making
lame comments here, email apple and ask them to change it so that at
lease processes are children of the wm.
