This is happening because X11 now reads /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc if
~/.xinitrc isn't present, but if you do not install the X11 Config
package while installing X11 (which is the current default) then it
will not install /etc/X11 (with the new xinitrc).
This is a bug and should be fixed in the next version. Unfortunately
lot's of people are going to run into this.

Aaack! I just downloaded the new beta and installed it on top of my
previous beta and now I get "twm" for a window manager. I don't have
an ~/.xinitrc file so I wonder what is happening?
