The does increase the tracking speed. But I'm looking for more. This becomes
a very big problem when dealing with very hi-res displays that are being
used in a multi-head situation.

Setting this only appears to take affect when using the apple driver. The
touchpad has not been disabled properly since I installed the intellimouse
driver.
