Thanks to all who replied.
It seems that renaming the extension (.hqx to .dmg) does the trick.
Whoda thunk?
So, just as an idle question, why does the extension renaming solution
work?

I downloaded the new beta of Apple's X11 but can't unstuff it. Stuffit
Expander comes up then fails, exiting w/out an error message. Stuffit
Deluxe won't open the file (stuffit deluxe 7.0.1), and Command-i
doesn't allow me to associate the file w/ deluxe.
I've downloaded the file 3 times now, thinking that there may have
been an error in the download but that hasn't helped.
My last brilliant idea had me changing the permissions on the .hqx
file to read and write; still no luck.
Is anyone else finding the same problem?
Is there a way to unstuff an hqx in Unix?
