Have you tried disabling both "Follow system keyboard layout" and
"Enable key equivalents under X11" in the Preference settings?

.Xmodmap, ie something like;

No matter what I've tried the COMMAND key is defined as Meta. Ive also
tried
fiddling with the Prefereces in X11 but that has not helped.
Can someone please tell me how I can again get Alt-Left as Meta in
Xemacs? I'm
really hopless in Xemacs without it, and I was really happy with how
well it
was working with the previous release.
