Hi,

I have not dealt with a VMS machine in a long time....but: it seems you are
right about the vms note not having permissions to connect to the remote
display.

If we forget about security, for now, on the Mac you could try to check
"Allow connections from network clients" in the security tab under the
"preferences" menu item (thanks Haroon!). Then, from an xterm say:

	xhost +wsa10.yrl.co.uk

(I know, I should not perpetrate this xhost insanity...) What happens,
then?

YES!!! Thank you Ettore

the wsa10 was actually the display number, substituted the VMS node name and away it went.
thanks very much
Elliott
