Hiya,
First off, let me tell you that I haven't got much experience with the UNIX
side of the MacOS. (I've compiled my first app from source only recently.)
Now I've downloaded and installed X11, and would like to run an application
inside it -- just to see how it works. I've found "sunclock", and would like
to use it for testing. The apparent lack of UNIX-knowledge manifested itself
imediately, however. The documentation suggests running "xmkmf", but that
command is not recognized by the machine... Plan B involves customizing the
included "Makefile.noimake" file. I would like to do that, but am not quite
sure how...
Right at the top of the file there is this:
# Installation options
#
DESTDIR=/usr
MANDIR=/X11R6/man/man1
SHAREDIR=/share/sunclock
XAPPLOADDIR=/lib/X11/app-defaults
XBINDIR=/bin/X11
I've checked the existence of the first three settings and have been able to
conclude that they are present. The last two don't seem to be however. Also,
I've got no idea what these directories are supposed to be for.
Could one of you explain the reason behind them, and maybe suggest
alternative locations that make sense under OS X? Or possibly assist in the
customization of the complete file...
The sources could be obtained here <ftp://ftp.ac-grenoble.fr/ge/geosciences/
>, BTW. I'm using "sunclock-3.46".
Regards,
Alexander,
The Netherlands.
