Yes, I experience the same problem, and I find it to be hugely
annoying.
Every time I move my laptop from home to work (or vice versa!) I need
to restart X11. What a waste of processor cycles!
Surely this is in the FAQ. Go to Preferences/Security and uncheck both
options.
If xauth is on and your network address changes, you will find you
cannot connect locally any more (you are not authorized because you
appear to be trying to connect from a new address). If you turn xauth
off, you probably don't want to accept connections from outside, since
they could be from some scurrilous person.
Most use ssh to connect to remote machines in this configuration.
[What is interesting to me is that your existing local connections
continue to work, despite your network address changing... I wonder
how that works?]
