Yeah, it seems pretty magical to me that applying your updated package
could fix this. But I have to report that the symptom has gone away
-- I no longer have to ssh three times and have two stuck sshd
processes hanging taking up 100% of the cpu on two of my cores, in
order to log in from another machine. I can now type "xterm &" in an
Emacs shell window and have it work. And applying this package is the
only upgrade I've done. Maybe it was removing the Tiger X11 that did
it.
