The consolation is that it does work with a 3-button mouse. The truth
is that this flavour of X11 should not be included with Leopard until
it has the wrinkles ironed out.

  - no middle button emulation even though preferences say so

  - no uxterm and xterm doesn't understand utf-8. For those of us east
of Greenwich who talk to a lot of machines running X11 that is one
of the big advantages of running X11 on our Macs.

  - starting xterm (I have "borrowed" xterm and uxterm from Tiger) in
the right way in order to switch between X11 windows is like
jumping on slippery stones in a pond.

  - now we are told we shouldn't start X11 from the Apps icon. So how
do I launch an xterm anyway?

  - the guys who wrote Spaces must have been following a cooking
recipe for flapjacks. Getting xterm windows to spread over several
Spaces buffers makes you cross-eyed at best. At worst X11 windows
don't focus, freeze up, start frozen. The only way I have found
place focus reasonably safely is by flipping windows with
    <cmd>+arrow key.

This is not very good. I have used Macs since the first 128K machines
and have run X servers and clients since the early 90's (MachTen,
eXodus, eXceed, A/UX, XFree86, etc) and unless we get some quick fixes
this is a real disappointment from the UI side. At least the very
basics should work properly.

I hope the previous message from Apple that mentioned installing the
Tiger version works so I can stick with that until this implementation
is fixed.
