That hurts, since X11 is the main app I distribute over multiple
desktops, as it is my main "workhorse" application in OS X.

Not really. I have seen the pager appearing only on one desktop
which makes it pretty useless, and whole desktops full of windows
become permanently invisible. The latter is particularly weird for
System Preferences, because you can't then change anything any
more, and you need to log out to fix it.
I guess one can get used to Spaces, too, except for its dislike of
windows from X11.
