I'll try to do this as I have time. To answer the question that I

changes might make it into an official update. I can, however, say
that I would like for them to, and that the more testing these
patches receive, the more compelling a case I can make toward that
end.
So, this is not an official Apple release -- this is from Ben, the
XDarwin maintainer.
Very nice - much better - many thanks! Two small changes to the
install directions:
You can install the binary with something like:
$ cd /tmp
$ curl -LO http://people.freedesktop.org/~bbyer/x11app/xorg-server-1.2a2/Xquartz-1.2.0a2.bz2
^
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Xquartz-1.2a2.bz2
$ bunzip2 Xquartz-1.2a2.bz2
$ sudo mv /usr/X11/bin/Xquartz /usr/X11/bin/Xquartz.old
$ sudo cp Xquartz-1.2a2 /usr/X11/bin/Xquartz
sudo chmod 755 /usr/X11/bin/Xquartz
Then, (re)start X11.app.
As far as Spaces is concerned, I started out emulating my CodeTech
virtual desktop environment from Tiger and placing Leopard X11 windows
in Space #2. What I discovered is that eventually all my X11 windows
"migrated" to Space #1. So, if that's where they want to be, then by
gosh that's where I'll define them to be :)
Thanks for the private install ...
