Hello
First, please apologise if I'm submitting an old question.
I'm getting the error "failed to bind to surface" when I run remotely certain X11 applications (tecplot, vapor). Both OS X machines (server and client) are running 10.5.2 and X11 2.1.4. I didn't have this error some time ago. Can't remember exactly the configurations at that time. It could help to know that if I use a Linux box as client and a OS X X11 server everything works fine. If I use a Linux box as server and OS X machine as client everything also works fine.
Setting the environment variable LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT (on the remote machine) should get rid of this.
In a tcsh startup script, this can be done as follows
if ( $?SSH_TTY ) then setenv LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT 1 endif
Same for bash, mutatis mutandis.
