I am new to the Mac Platform. I can use SSH to connect my Mac OS 10.5.7. After enabling SSH forwarding, I can start X applications without any problem. However, when I try to start the Xcode development environment in command line, it failed with this error:

_RegisterApplication(), FAILED TO establish the default connection to the WindowServer, _CGSDefaultConnection() is NULL.

Does anyone know why? Is it possible to run Xcode remotely via X11 from another machine? Thanks for any input.

No, because XCode isn't an X11 app. You can use the VNC server built into OSX with a vncviewer, Screen Sharing/Back To My Mac, or the command line interface (xcodebuild).
