Ctrl-click as right-click

Hi,
I search the list but I could not find a discussion addressing the
precise point I wish to make. I apologise if I missed something.
Outside of X11, Ctrl-click is exactly equivalent to a right-click and
that is the only way to get the contextual menus on a laptop without a
mouse plugged in. The only way to get that behaviour in X11 I could
figure out is to check the "Enable key equivalents under X11".
Unfortunately, as the preferences dialogue warns, that brings havoc to
those X11 applications relying on the meta modifier.
Thus, would it be possible to have a separate preference to only let
Ctrl-click pass through to MacOS, while other event is still handed
over to the X11 application? Of course, that would too cause problems
with some X11 applications but that would give the user a more atomic
trade-off, one that would help a long way making X11 apps behave like
native ones for laptop users.
