Hi Garvan,

Debugging Adobe Illustrator CS2 or Photoshop CS2 fails in XCode, but
is ok
using gdb on the command-line. Bizarre.
When debugging through XCode, after the application splash screen is
shown I
get an fatal error EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION reported in the debugger window.
Nothing is shown in the stack trace.
I know for a fact that Adobe InDesign CS 3 uses CFM code. (I'm
developing a plugin for it.) The *required* development environment is
CodeWarrior 8.3.
I took a quick look at the executables of Illustrator CS and Photoshop
CS and they seem to be CFM as well (the files start with Joy!peff).
Could that be the problem?
When run on the command-line with gdb, there is no problems. This is
using
the exact same argument for the executable. Adobe doesn't use XCode,
Probably because Xcode doesn't do CFM?
so I
doubt they will have a suggestion. The reason we set the apps as the
target
is that we develop plugins.
Again, I'm not sure about Illustrator CS and Photoshop CS but InDesign
plugins have to be CFM as well. (Though I'm using a MachO bundle
manually called from the CFM code for mine since I need access to
WebKit and Cocoa and some modern APIs not reacheable from Carbon CFM.)
I have reported this bug to Apple. Any suggestions?
I'm using NSLog, CFShow and the Metrowerks debugger. Feels like the
middle ages but it works.
BTW. Having to use an old version of CodeWarrior as well as Xcode is a
PITA. I wish Adobe would get with the times and use MachO.
