how can i attach header files in XCode 2.1 to a target, without using
a CopyFiles or CopyHeaders build phase?
The reason is, if there is no target attached to a header file, the
header can't be preprocessed nor can it be compiled explicitly per
command. Simply, because the commands are disabled (probably, due to
the lack of any build setting information).
But preprocessing and compiling is often usefull for testing syntax
or getting more information how macros exand.
Note, in XCode 1.5 there was the "Headers Build Phase", which does
not exist anymore on my XCode 2.1.
THis wouldn't work anyway. As far as I can tell, Preprocess, Show
Assembly Code, and Compile don't work for anything but
C/C++/Objective-C source files. Please file a bug.
DonĀ“t assume, there is always a corresponding cpp module for each
header (e.g. files using C++ templates).
IMO, Preprocess should work with headers as well, without any problems.
Is there a reason to disallow Compile?
A "Check Syntax" Command, might be very cool, also.
Can we please elaborate a bit more on this, to figure out how it should
work. Then i'll send either a bug report or a feature request.
Thanks
Andreas
