With the Status Bar hidden, the Build Results window does not indicate the relative progress of the build. It only shows what file(s) is/are currently being compiled, and any messages. Similarly, with the Status Bar hidden, the "Project Find" window does not show the relative progress of a global search. In both cases, the Activity Window shows a little pie-chart-like graphic that gives an idea of how much work is left to do. There does not appear to be a way to automatically bring the Activity Window to the front, as there is with the Build Results window.

yes you can set this on the build preference pane. I have mine set to:

Open during builds: always
Close after builds: on no warnings

This opens and closes the build window automatically on a successful build.
