[2.1] split-window display glitches

Editing text in a split editor window seems to be quite buggy (I don't think this is new to 2.1). Syntax highlighting in the non- active window is somewhat broken, text fails to render properly when the non-active window is scrolled due to editing that occurs in the active window, etc.

Should I open a bug on this? Or is it a known problem?
