I was so pleased to see Apple add these APIs years ago so every
project I worked on didn't have it own stupid set of string
converters. Now we'll all be right back where we were because people
will be afraid to use a "deprecated" API. Ugh.
How else would you attempt to get rid of outdated stuff?
Who determines that something is outdated? Seems to me that certain
utility functions like these will likely never be outdated. I certainly
don't think they are and don't appreciate the unnecessary noise
generated in the warnings. I'd rather have a higher signal-to-noise
ratio for deprecated API warnings that *really* have an impact -- like
using QD APIs and decelerating my window.
