Hi all,
Briefly, is $(SOURCE_TREE_NAME) the correct syntax to use in path
settings like "Library Search Paths"?
My problem is as follows: I have set up a source tree in the
preferences
like so:
NETCDF_ST NETCDF_ST /Users/sean/RogueSVNWorkingCopy/Test/trunk/
RRCropViewTest/other/netcdf/
Then I drag libFoo.a (which is in the above folder hierarchy) into my
project, and get the usual sheet where I can choose the "Reference
Type". But my source tree is not listed! Quit XCode, relaunch,
repeat. Ahhh, now its there. Sigh. I add it. Now I look at my
"Library Search Paths" and see "$(SRCROOT)/../RRCropViewTest/other/
netcdf". That doesn't look relative to the source tree to me! I
change
it to "$(NETCDF_ST)" and things seem to work.
Both issues sound like bugs (one known, one unknown).
I can reproduce the source tree not showing when adding a file.
Please file a bug so we can track the issue and have you verify it
when fixed.
The second is a "missing feature"/bug that you should also file
(right now we don't cycle through the source tree paths when figuring
out the relative path).
<rant>IMNSHO, this is a perfect example of all that is wrong with
XCode,
it is littered with bazillions of small bugs like these, and lacks
finesse. Death by a thousand little cuts. Yeah, yeah, file bugs. But
it would be a full time job! I have done in the past, and almost none
of my PB/XC/IB bugs has ever been fixed, I suspect because they are
all
'minor'. I give up. I miss CodeWarrior!</rant>
I'd encourage you to provide such feedback via xcode-
email@hidden. Right now is the best time to let Apple
know that you see fixing a slew of "minor" bugs as an important
"feature" in future versions of Xcode. Pointing out group of bugs or
areas of the application that suffer from this especially is also
helpful. The more constructive and specific you can be in bugs and
general feedback the better. Saying "Xcode sucks and has lots of
bugs" is feedback, but not really actionable. Your comments above,
OTOH, are useful and specific, please send them in as bugs so we can
track the problems.
Scott
Thanks,
