Not sure how to make sure Apple knows that this needs to be fixed

mention it here.
The way to alert Apple to a problem is to file a bug: <http://
bugreporter.apple.com>.
Include the project if it's at all possible.
As a side note, I remember reading something about hfs extended
drives developing some sort of issue after becoming 85% full. Since
my drive was about 99.5%, does anyone know if this spells some sort
of imminent doom for my hard drive?
I have not seen this at all. I have frequently run out of disk space
(my root volume has limited space [<2GB, generally]), and I find that
I only have to remove files or kill processes to get back to normal
behavior. On the rare occasions that I have to reboot, I don't see
any problems after reboot.
Just one data point, of course. YMMV.

Justin
