No, it should only re-build them if they have changed. How did you configure your projects to build into a shared build directory?

I've set each project's build directory to a common folder (a new folder at the top level of my source control branch). I've left the prefs set to the default (Project Directory) because I don't want my personal projects to use the same build dir as my work projects.

I've left the "Place Intermediate Build Files In" set to "Default intermediates location" (which is the same folder as the build products).

Xcode should understand what has and hasn't changed and know what should and shouldn't need to be rebuilt if the dependencies are set up and a shared build directory is being used. If it doesn't do this properly, it's a bug.

Then it's looking like a bug from my experience today.

What version of Xcode are you using? I don't believe you've mentioned this information.

2.1 all around. I haven't upgraded to 2.2 because of a problem that someone mentioned after it was first released (using the 10.3.9 sdk perhaps? I forget what it was now). Do you know if any bugs relating to this have been fixed in 2.2?

You can set this globally in the Building pane of the Xcode Preferences, you don't need to do it per-project.

I know. See above.
