In a nutshell:
You'll want to decide on a schema to use to represent your structured data. Once you have that, use an XML library like Xerces for C++ or Expat for C to convert your data structures into XML in a memory buffer.
With most XML libraries, the memory format is the same as the wire format, so it's ready to send. Use a networking library to send it client/server style over the network. There are several free C and C++ networking libraries to be found on the net, or you can just use simple sockets. If your client and server are on the same host or same lan and don't really need internetworking, I'd choose something simple to use like a publish/subscribe API to send the XML messages around. --- |
