why: sClientMessageProc == nil CoreDockRegisterClient_AlreadyRegistered on startup?

Using debug frameworks and get this on startup:

DebugAssert: Third Party Client: sClientMessageProc == nil CoreDockRegisterClient_AlreadyRegistered [CoreDocServices.subproj/ DockClient.c:157]

previous post here from some time ago indicate they were able to continue past it as I was, but either there's a problem in my code that I'd like to fix (any idea what causes this?) or else the assert would ideally be removed... ;-)
